Airbox

Schematic: F-14 Air Cleaner
Affected/related parts: the orientation of the intake attachment point on the cylinder head will ultimately determine which style of intake you need, and thus which style of airbox.

Variation 1: Airbox for the Early "Offset" carb
  • Distinguishing features:
    • Works with the "offset carb", where the carb attaches on the right side of the airbox
  • Part number(s):
  • Early or Late:  Early
    • Frame number 111,565 to 142,498 and 424,487 to 527,510
  • Notes:
    • Less common than the Inline carb, and harder to find all the correct pieces for it.

Note how the carb for the offset version requires a choke handle that will clear the body of the airbox.

Variation 2: Airbox for the "Inline" carb

  • Distinguishing features:
    • This airbox is used in conjunction with the "inline carb", and the carb attaches directly to the center of the airbox
  • Part number(s):
  • Early or Late:  Late
    • Frame number 527,511 onward
  • Notes:

The air filter element for an inline airbox.

The carb for the inline version requires no special choke handle.
