Variations in Exhaust Rocker Arm Shafts
- Distinguishing features:
- The Early style exhaust rocker arm shaft (pictured on left) has a constrictor at one end which limits oil flow to the head thus supplying more to the crank. The restricted end should be inserted into the head first.
- Late style engines have Intake and Exhaust shafts that are the same (pictured at right below).
- Part number(s):
- 14461-028-010 = Restricted exhaust shaft for Early style engine
- 14451-028-010 = Intake shaft any year, Exhaust shaft for Late style engine
- Matching/required parts:
- Right crankcase with oil passage
- Right crankcase cover with oil passage
