Variation 1: Early style head

• Distinguishing features:
• A more rearward facing exhaust port.  Note how the exhaust breaks the plane where the head would meet the cylinder.
• Bolt holes for the intake are at a 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock orientation
• Part number(s):
• Early or Late: Early
• Matching/required parts:
• 45 degree header
• offset carb (intake and airbox)

Variation 2: Late style head

• Distinguishing features:
• Exhaust port faces almost straight out.  Note how it does not break the plane where the head would meet the cylinder.
• Bolt holes for the intake are at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock.
• Part number(s):
• Early or Late: Early
• Matching/required parts:
• 90 degree header
• inline carb (intake and airbox)
